Education, education, education. If there is one thing in ghost hunting that you can never get enough of it is education. Education can make the difference in a good hunt and a tragic one. Here are just a few pointers. Make sure you check out our other area, FAQ, Basics, Glossary, Software, Protocols and weather for more educational information.

Never go alone on a ghost hunt.
Always say a prayer of protection before and after a ghost hunt.
Make sure all of your equipment is fully charged and that you have extra batteries available.
Don't walk into an area snapping pictures right off.
Be aware of the surroundings take a day walk through before a nighttime investigation if possible.
A ghost hunter steps into an investigation/ghost hunt with the best of feelings for those that are with him/her and for the ghosts that might be present.
NO HORSE PLAY! A serious and conscientious ghost hunter gets results.
Large groups should split up into four or less individuals per team.
Take along a notebook to record significant occurrences. Begin by logging in the starting time and weather conditions etc. Make note of surrounding lights so as to not to confuse them with anomalies later on in the pictures. Record all meter abnormalities, strange sounds, sights and feeling or emotions.
Do not show fear. A gracious ghost will not come around if they sense you are fearful. Yet your fear can have mischievous ghosts feeding on that fear.
Always remember, you are the one with the body, and you are the one with the power.
Keep in mind that a lot of the places you will be investigating will be secluded. We do not recommend, nor are we suggesting any specific type of weapons, but we personally bring protection along on our investigations. This is not for the fear of ghosts, but people, wild animals and the likes. Gangs and other illegal activity is nothing new to cemeteries and other remote locations.
If you are going to be taking pictures have lots of film or memory cards.
If you feel that some unknown force wants you out of there then get out! You should never go against these feelings.
Never dare an unseen entity to make itself known to you. However, It is okay to ask those present if you can take their picture or record their voice.
Make sure you have permission before entering private property such as a cemetery or abandoned house. Remember besides breaking the law , it makes the ghost hunting community as a whole look bad.
If you are not familiar with any of your equipment then practice, practice, practice. Keep in mind you may be using this equipment in total darkness.
Ask questions to those invisible beings that might be in the area. Pause for an answer. It's also a good idea ask some questions and then leave the device recording in a remote location for 30 minutes or so. When you come back you might have your replies!
